Luther and Calvin Did Not Always Think Alike.

When John Calvin and Martin Luther were writing, their main points weren't quite the same. According to book three chapter 22 of John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion, points one and three, Calvin believed that God has predetermined those who go to heaven and hell.  He suggested that some are chosen without any consideration of past or future behaviors.  God chooses who and why. Calvin said that God’s will is innate, so predestination fair.  Predestination is God’s.  God’s will is just.  Therefore, predestination is just. 

                          

Meanwhile, Martin Luther’s main point in his On the Freedom of a Christian is that faith is all you need to be free from sin or the need to repent.
