Mephistopheles wants to isolate Faustus from people that might help him repent. So, the plan to drag Faustus to Hell goes smoothly. Mephistopheles helps Faustus engage with his darkest desires. But most importantly he makes Faustus feel in control, so he won't repent.

Even Lucifer helps with the plan. He feeds Faustus's desire for knowledge by summoning the Seven Deadly Sins as well feeding Faustus ego make him think that he is important.

Mephistopheles and Faustus without a doubt have a toxic relationship Faustus sees Mephistopheles as a servant. and Mephistopheles see Faustus as a toy to torture in hell. Mephistopheles is the one in control despite him acting like a servant to Faustus but what is 25 years of servitude to an immortal demon.
