We all know the French sided with America in the Revolutionary War, but they had affected us in more ways than that. They had a big impact on the political side of America before the war. America saw that the French didn't like the English, and America didn't like the English, so there was a bit of good will there. And the French treated America better than the English, so they were going to tag team the British for a while.

The British passing the Sugar Act made America think worse of the British. Then the Stamp Act got just as much, if not more, resistance. At this point, America was tired of these taxes. The Americans thought that these taxes were unconstitutional as well. They said that they could only be taxed by their own representatives. All of this led to the Boston Tea Party and the French siding with America in the war.
