Grendel is a demon. He is a child of Cain the first murderer. PS. Beowulf the story is incredibly Christian, if you didn’t know. Grendel is a hideous, bloodthirsty monster who is pure evil. Beowulf is a warrior who comes to kill Grendel. He is a heroic leader of his army. The great evil and the great good have their differences. They also have some things in common.
Grendel represents evil in humans. He is the problems created by man like war and other such things. Grendel shows a lot of traits similar to sociopath’s traits. He has a total disregard for the harm he does to others. He has an inflated sense of self-worth. He does whatever he wants, when he wants to do it.
Beowulf will not be getting an in-depth look, as his character is paper thin. He has no real, discernible personality traits.
Grendel and Beowulf both have monstrous traits, including but not limited to their insane brute strength and their brutality in combat. They have a physically impossible lung capacity that lets them hold their breath for the better part of a day.
Grendel represents the worst of humanity. Beowulf represents the best of humanity. Grendel kills for his own amusement and personal gain. Beowulf kills for the benefit of others. Grendel only fights things weaker than him. Beowulf only fights things stronger.
