The veil of ignorance is philosophical idea by John Rawls. The premise of the veil of ignorance says that if people are stripped of all they know about themself they will come up with laws that help everyone. I find this I idea lacking. I'm not saying I disagree, I can't say for certain on your part but if I lose all memories of myself and have to decide the laws of America, I will try to give myself the best shot I can. If I don't know anything about me, so I would just help everyone.

But that part is not what I have a problem with. The fact is the is the whole idea needs such an extreme hypothetical it undermines the whole argument. If you need to make up a fantasy world where your idea has merit, then you should not be making the argument in the first place.
