The Industrial Revolution and its Effects on Slavery

The Industrial Revolution was when a massive explosion of economic wealth came to be. It happened because of the large increase in technological developments such as the factory line which made work a lot easier to find. This, as a result, led to a massive increase to the population.

Some people think that the quality of life in the factories was much worse than life before, but it’s the opposite. The conditions in the factories were still terrible, but the increase in the population implies that people were better of than before.

As people's standard of living was rising, other ways in which things could change for the better began to seem more plausible. In Western Civilization, from the mid-18th through the mid-19th century, there were many people that were opposed to slavery. Many people protested the slave trade and more made speeches and books that swayed people’s minds. And they were right of course.
