How Ego Can Consume You

In Gulliver's Travels, the king of the Lilliputians thinks his greatness gives him the right to do whatever he wants, but really, he's just dodging the moral rights and rules he must follow as king. He thinks he knows everything but is just falling for the Dunning-Kruger effect. He thinks he knows everything, but he just knows the basics on the topic. His mercy is so great, he just blinds you and forces you to serve him instead of just killing you for putting out a fire that was going to burn down his castle.

The king has let his ego consume him. He thinks himself the strongest. He thinks himself the smartest. He thinks himself the greatest, but really, he is just a temperamental fool. I can't fully blame him either; he is a king with power. Very rarely does power not corrupt, even if you work for it, and he was born with power on a silver platter.
