Time keeping artifacts like the Mayan pyramid at Chichen Itza were, and still are, cool.

This Mayan pyramid casts a shadow that looks like a serpent when the sun hits it at just the right angling which is only on the first day of spring or fall. The Mayans used this to tell when it's time to plant or harvest their crops of course that's not the only way they used to tell when important events were happening.

Ancient people also used celestial phenomena that repeat daily or annually to keep time, Such as the zodiac. No, the zodiac is not only for astrology. It has real world significance. Ancient people used the zodiac to tell what time of the year it was. The zodiac is a perfect time keeping tool. Its constellations rotate out, which makes for great markers for what time of the year it is.

I found your essay to be quite interesting and I enjoyed the topic you chose to write about. I don't really see anything that I would change, I just wish that you had spoken more about different ways the Mayans told time. I also noticed that you used my favorite picture from that lesson.
